Is the future of computer hardware becoming increasingly fragmented? I see there is specialized hardware for image processing, DNN, graphics, and signal processing becoming popular in recent years. Would the trend persist?

@gohan2021, with my limited knowledge, seems like that's the trend for now. As the new workloads demand new type of specialization, the number of coprocessors will keep increasing. However, coprocessors are good at BW rather than latency, so I think that tasks that require low latency will still be executed on the CPU.

Does high-level languages like Spatial exist for DNN hardware design? Or is this field not mature enough yet?
