I have an older server (Dell R710) at home that features a dual socket motherboard. It is really neat that you can expand out the idea of multiple CPUs across a single PCB, however, in the lecture, it was mentioned that supercomputers have 1000's of interconnected CPU's working together. Would this also be through some physical connection e.g. ethernet, or some proprietary interace. Or is it rather disconnected, but shares a piece of the same workload in terms of software.
