FYI: The Xeon Phi lineup has been discontinued (Xeon is a somewhat similar but entirely different line from the Xeon Phi). My understanding is that the Xeon Phi CPUs did not receive as much demand and success as GPUs and ended up being used by a small niche of HPC users.

I think that would make sense, but this is still likely a very good indicator of the direction of processors over the coming years (dare i say decades in this industry?). Specialization just seems to yield the needed efficiency of some computing (mobile devices, ML chips, GPU's with special hardware for many different things like rasterization, ray tracing, ML networks, etc).
