Monochromatic light of 500 nm is still within the human gamut of color but it is impossible to reconstruct using combinations of 3 monochromatic lights whose wavelengths are perceived by humans as red, blue, and green. Since our monitors do not emit RGB light as lasers, but rather also as a spectrum of light, this suggests that our monitors are not subject to constraints that are as strict as what is displayed here.
