Notice that fluorescent light has peaks in its emission spectrum at certain wave lengths while daylight has a more uniform emission spectrum. This is why sometime if you sit under a fluorescent light for an extended period of time you start to feel really "icky", because while your brain mentally sees a white light, your eyes that are used to experiencing a different white emission spectrum and they aren't fooled.
