I'm confused about case 1 image. Why is the shape diagonal, but the other way?

@bbqpork Looking at the graph starting from the top: Suppose we start with an object to the right of the eye. Then, eye starts moving towards the object => distance between object and eye decreases (x coordinate gets smaller in the graph). Eye catches up with the object and distance is 0 (x = 0 in the graph). Right after, object jumps further to the right and distance sharply increases again (x > 0 again).
